every taste. The Gerlitzen Alpe and Dreiländereck ski areas have everything: magnificent
mountains, variety for all abilities, wide slopes, family-friendly runs, fun
terrain parks, traditional chalet restaurants and outstanding hotels.
Gerlitzen Alpe ski centre. The summit plateau on Gerlitzen Alpe north of Lake Ossiach is definitely not to be missed. From there you can cruise down 25 ski slopes (39 kilometres) or improve your skills on a snowboard. The sun is always in your face and the most gorgeous panoramic views right before your eyes. So close to heaven!
Dreiländereck. When you see snow on Dreiländereck in the Karawanken range, you will hear the call of winter sports. The small, attractive ski area lies right on the border between three countries: Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Unparalleled: the perfect quality of the runs and the family atmosphere.

Dream slopes. At last! Snow and ski slopes are in season again. And whatever the weather, good snow conditions are guaranteed here. By the time the ski season opens, the whole mountain is covered in snow. Gerlitzen Alpe is known as THE top family skiing area in Carinthia and is the only certified ski centre for families with children as well as beginners and those rediscovering skiing in Carinthia.
Merits. The figures speak for themselves: 25 runs for
novices to experts, 15 modern lifts, 12 traditional chalets, 12 webcams,
parking for 3,500 cars in Annenheim, Klösterle and on the mountain. It’s not
far to the vantage points on Gerlitzen Alpe. The cable car takes you quickly and
easily from Lake Ossiach to the ski slopes.
Wonders of nature. It is a real winter wonderland on the summit
plateau. What a breath-taking panorama! Lake after lake, peace and quiet, the
River Drau, mountains like carvings, enveloped in a sea of clouds like cotton

Fresh tracks. You'll be amazed by the trail network in the
Villach Region. Well-groomed tracks, all lengths and levels of difficulty,
fresh alpine air, tremendous views.

Why not try Carinthia's freshly tracked cross-country ski trails for a change. It’s
just a question of where to go. After all, you are spoilt for choice with a
varied network covering countless kilometres in the Villach Region. Perfectly
groomed for skating and classic parallel skiing. Like on the sunny panoramic
trail on Gerlitzen Alpe for example. Or on Dreiländereck. The Karawanken trail
on Lake Faak is also very popular with our guests.
A special tip: the cross-country ski centre in the Dobratsch nature park. It has a fabulous five-kilometre trail starting at the alpine rock garden car park. For even more vitality: the gorgeous four-kilometre trail at the top Rosstratte car park.

train here on the internationally recognised race trail. The stats? Five
kilometres long, floodlit, three kilometres even served by snow machines. So cross-country
skiing is guaranteed until the spring. Even then you don’t have to stop: the
trail is used for roller skiing in summer.

Away from it all! You’re not so keen on the ski lifts, crowds and
high life? Then you are bound to like snowshoeing well away from the busy
slopes. The Villach Region has a whole host of opportunities for walking
through scenic snowy landscapes. On Dreiländereck, Gerlitzen Alpe and in the
Dobratsch nature park you can even explore the area with guides and rangers. Take
your pick: from a short trial walk to a longer trek to a summit.
Add some sparkle. Snowshoeing is fast becoming a new trend in
winter. Because you can go at your own pace: it doesn’t matter whether you take
it sedately, stride out or walk briskly. Whatever your speed, you'll feel
almost weightless gliding over the snow and exploring the white winter
landscape. Snowshoeing is not only a whole lot of fun – it is also a gentle way
to keep fit and really easy to learn. Just think how you will glow and your
eyes will sparkle after a walk in the winter sunshine...

whole family. Experience the thrill of sledging down snowy forest paths and
through idyllic clearings.

to a day on the ski slopes. During the day the snow glistens in the sun and the
landscape flashes past you like in a winter fairy tale. And at night – with the
light, the stars and the thrill of a long descent, it beats après ski.
Sledging fun. Where to go tobogganing in the Villach Region? On
Dreiländereck you can try the sensational eight-kilometre-long natural toboggan
run, on Gerlitzen Alpe a ski-doo will take you back while the Rosstratte
tobogganing hill at the end of the Villach Alpine Road is the hot spot for the
youngest bobbers. Exhilarating natural toboggan runs are also to be found on
Verditz, at Landskron Castle, in Nötsch, Ledenitzen, Altfinkenstein-Pogöriach
and St. Georgen.
